Bride Sues Ex-FIancee for Breaching Promise to Marry

"...Lauren Serafin says she discovered that her fiancé, Robert Leighton, had an alleged one-night stand with a woman during his bachelor party in Las Vegas just a month before the wedding date.

Now Serafin has filed a legal complaint against her ex-husband-to-be for breach of promise to marry and infliction of emotional distress in a case that will no doubt be a lesson to would-be philanderers that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.

According to court documents, Serafin claims that Leighton and several of his male co-workers, friends and family members headed to Las Vegas about a month before the couple’s planned Aug. 21, 2010, wedding.

Serafin alleges it was there that her ex-fiancé met a woman named “Danielle” at a night club, where the two engaged in “amorous acts in public, including, but not limited to, kissing, dancing and other physical contact.""

Gentlemen, Start Your Whacking!

Bart: Whacking Day is a sham. It was originally conceived in 1922 as an excuse to beat up on the Irish.
Old Irishman: 'Tis true. I took many a lump, but 'twas all in good fun.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Step Up Your Belt Game

Die Workwear has a few good ideas, but for those of us not willing to shell so much quan, I've picked up very similar belts from Uniqlo and Club Monaco for a lot less.

“Just the other day you saw a watch owned by Albert Einstein here on Hodinkee, today you’re about to see a watch owned by the Einstein of modern hip-hop, the Notorious BIG.  Yes Biggie Smalls himself, the man who helped form east coast hip-hop into what it is today wore a diamond-studded watch, and I bet you can all guess what kind….no not a Movado.

Yes, a Rolex.

This watch is an early 90’s Rolex Datejust with diamonds on the bezel and face, but what appears to be an original Rolex two-toned jubilee bracelet.  This watch is being auctioned off here in New York by art house Philips de Pury & Co.  The auction is the first of its kind and is titled “Hip Hop’s Crown Jewels”.  It will also feature some pretty legendary pieces of metal from the likes of some nefarious characters including 50 Cent, Tupac, P.Diddy, and of course Biz Markie.

We don’t know much about this watch, as there is very little information on it on the auction website or really anywhere on the web.  We don’t have an estimate for the selling price of this piece either but we’d guess it’s going to be very, very high.  We are also unsure if this watch was being worn by Mr. Wallace when he was killed back in 1997.  No matter how you slice it though, this is a very rare and very unique watch that will hold a lot of value for anyone interested.”

From Hodinkee.
The Riverside County drug task force team moved in on the Hemet area house on Monday night and seized nearly 2,300 pot plants. The commander says agents also found the reptile, described as a “watchgator.”

Short Guide to Briefcases

From Gilt Manual:

"I’m reminded of a merger closing involving two public companies. The impressive closing room, full of exceptional attorneys and their clients, was awash with goodwill and anticipation for the moment of completion. When the lawyer delivering the critical finishing pieces of the merger (original signature pages to several of the final ancillary closing agreements) placed his beaten Eddie Bauer canvas satchel on the closing table to draw the signature pages out, the very dowdiness of his “briefcase” sort of sullied the whole affair. It was a palpable let down to what should have been a pristine moment of congratulations not only for the two companies, but for the hapless lawyer with the crappy bag."

Two New Momofuku Restaurants Coming to Toronto in 2012

From Toronto Life:

"Earlier today, we reported that New York chef David Chang was rumoured to be opening a new restaurant next year at the base of the hotel-condo complex, Shangri-La. We just received word from Chang’s press chief Sue Chan that not one but two Momofuku restaurants will indeed be coming to Toronto next year, although they’ll actually be occupying a neighbouring building."

Sweet. I hope these places are on the cheaper end of the spectrum. Chang's places in NYC are supposed to be pretty amazing.

Pressed Cubano Sandwich ($15) – Not to be missed. Another name for this might be grilled cheese from heaven. It truly is the sandwich that you hope never ends as soon as you take your first melted bite. Cured pork shoulder, ham, gruyere, cornichons (the French word for gherkin), and red onion all collide into a salty empire of deliciousness. You will want to rub this one all over your face.

Lindy’s Guide to Ossington between Dundas and Queen presents: Ossington, The Strip We Love to Hate: A Drinking Game.

Go to Levack Block, order a drink that requires a specific brand of vodka (as if you can taste the difference). Complain about the crowd. Chug your drink like you’re a real man (applies to women as well).  Leave.

Proclaim Reposado as a better locale anyway.  Notice it’s packed. Whine for 5 minutes about the crowd but order a drink anyway.  Make sure it requires a tequila that no one has heard of.  Feign being appalled at that.  Settle for a margarita because you are reclaiming it as retro cool. Complain about the crowd.  Chug the margarita until give yourself one of those headaches that feels like an icicle stabbing you in your third eye.  Leave.

Squeeze into Sweaty Betty’s.  Complain about the crowd.  Complain about the music.  Laugh at what all the hipsters are wearing even though you are wearing the same thing.   Order a Caesar.  Complain that it’s bad.  Drink it anyway.  Attempt to flirt with the bartender by asking him/her to make you “a really crazy shot”.  Drink three of whatever sugary substance she/he has poured for you.  Leave.

Etc. Read the Rest.
